Combination Sewer Cleaning

Sewer pipe cleaning operations are carried out throughout the year, though they are more frequently done in summer and fall. These are times when the rain tends to cause dirt and debris which clogs up the sewage systems. Professionals use two systems of cleaning – jetting and vacuuming.

Jetting is a process in which a high-pressure water hose with a sewer-jetting nozzle is pushed into the dirty pipeline. High-pressure water is released from the sewer jet truck to dislodge all of the dirt and flush it away into a gully hole. As the dirt is removed, the nozzle continues to move deeper into the sewer.

Sewer cleaners also use vacuuming through which all of the dirt is extracted with a vacuuming system. All the solids and water removed this way are then disposed into a sludge tank.

Combination Cleaning of Sewers

Jetting and vacuuming may also be performed simultaneously for more effective cleaning. Two people are required to handle the entire process in such cases. Combination sewer cleaning trucks make provision for one person to operate the jetter and vacuum hose, while another worker will stand further upstream of the manhole being cleaned to ensure that the hose is moving forward as it should. He will also indicate when it has reached the end of the manhole.

Benefits of a Sewer Line Cleaning Truck

These specialized sewer cleaning machines release water pressure of around 75 gallons per minute into the manhole. The water begins to flush out all the debris lodged in the pipe. Everything from stones and bottles to grease, sludge and grime get washed away. The air vacuuming system also comes into play at this point and sucks all the dislodged debris and forces it into disposal bins.

With both of these systems working together, cleaning of sewer lines is more efficient as compared to a single process.

Advanced sewer cleaning equipment in today’s combination trucks are also designed to serve as vacuum excavators. They can bring underground cables and pipes to the surface. They may also be used for street flushing, chemical and water-spraying services. They may even be used as transfer pumps.

Trained personnel are always on hand to man these trucks and ensure that the work is carried out in an organized manner. All kinds of cleaning requirements are assessed and then carried out effectively.

Regular sewage cleaning ensures that you live in an environmentally safe neighborhood. The chances of illnesses spreading or clogged drain pipes bursting open are minimal. Regular cleaning also ensures that streets drain away smoothly, leaving behind no tell-tale signs.
